Sun and Brains are generated at a constant rate - thus players have to strategise to spend Sun or Brains economically, wisely allocating resources to attack and defend. Cards cost Sun and Brains respectively to play. Players have a three-card hand and an extra 'button' they can press every 12 seconds to spend 2 sun/brains and replace a card with another drawn card. However, to prevent players from playing cards in quick succession, there is a 1.5 second cooldown after drawing a card before a new card is drawn.

Its real-time, high-action gameplay is reminiscent of the shooter games like Garden Warfare, but it also features elements of card-collecting and strategy first seen in Plants vs Zombies Heroes. The game is designed to fill a niche in the existing roster of PvZ games. Some unique features of this game are more card categories, a changeable Hero, and a wider variety of battlegrounds and game modes. Its gameplay broadly resembles Clash Royale, and there would inevitably be some baseline of similarity between the two.
